Big opportunities tomorrow.
This hands-on program trains technicians in specialized boiler welding techniques, including pressure vessel welding procedures, high-temperature material handling, and quality assurance practices critical for power generation and process industries.
The Boiler Welder Program provides comprehensive training in boiler welding techniques and safety. It covers basics of boilers and pressure parts, types of boilers, and the role of a boiler welder. Welding processes include SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW, with guidance on electrode and filler material selection, welding positions, techniques, and heat input control. Boiler materials and metallurgy focus on carbon and alloy steel grades, material properties, preheat and post-weld heat treatment, and metallurgical defects. Welding codes and standards include ASME Section I and IX, AWS standards, WPS and PQR interpretation, and code compliance. Boiler fabrication practices cover tube-to-tube sheet welding, drum and header welding, nozzle and attachment welding, and dimensional fit-up. Inspection and testing topics include visual inspection, NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT), hydrostatic testing, defect identification, and repair. Repair and maintenance welding covers crack repair, tube replacement, and shutdown maintenance practices. HSE topics include hot work permits, confined space safety, PPE, hazard control, and fire prevention. Productivity and quality control focus on welding efficiency, rework reduction, documentation, traceability, and quality acceptance criteria. Field practices and case studies include industrial boiler examples, common failures, best practices, and skill enhancement techniques.
The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
