Course Description

This specialized program trains technicians in fired heater and furnace maintenance procedures including refractory work, tube inspection, burner servicing, and safe access techniques for high-temperature equipment.

What you'll learn in this Course?

The Heater / Furnace Maintenance Technician Program trains technicians in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of industrial heaters and furnaces. It introduces types of heaters and furnaces, operating principles, key components, and safety awareness. Routine maintenance activities cover burner inspection, tube condition checks, refractory inspection, and daily checks. Fuel and combustion systems include fuel lines and valves, air supply systems, flame monitoring, and draft control. Mechanical components maintenance covers supports, expansion joints, dampers, doors, insulation systems, fasteners, and hardware. Instrumentation support includes thermocouples, gauges, safety interlocks, alarm awareness, and basic calibration. Inspection and testing include visual inspection, thickness measurement, leak detection, and NDT awareness. Safety and permit compliance cover hot work permits, confined space entry, gas testing coordination, and emergency response. Shutdown and start-up support include preparation, maintenance execution, start-up monitoring, and post-start inspection. Housekeeping and asset care cover cleaning practices, foreign material control, waste handling, and tool management. Documentation and reporting include maintenance records, inspection checklists, defect logs, and handover notes.

The module highlights how thoughtful planning can directly improve project quality, reduce accidents, and help projects finish on time and within budget.
